Experience the rejuvenating benefits of Abhyanga, a traditional Ayurvedic massage. Medicated oil (Taila) is gently heated to a comfortable, moderate warmth based on the patient’s tolerance. This warm oil is then rhythmically massaged over the body in the Anuloma (natural) direction. The session concludes with the application of a medicated powder (Choorna) to the head.

The entire procedure lasts approximately 45 minutes, followed by an hour of rest and a bath in lukewarm water.

Swedana, also known as Sudation Therapy, involves inducing sweat to help the body release pent-up toxins (ama). This process prepares the body for the elimination of toxins during Pradhanakarma. Typically, Swedana is performed as the final stage of Purvakarma, following Pachana (Digestion Therapy) and Snehana (Oleation Therapy), but it is also valuable as a stand-alone treatment.

Swedana is a cleansing and stress-relieving therapy recommended for patients dealing with conditions such as asthma, weight and digestion issues, and body inflammation.

  • Vasthi, a type of medicated enema, comes in two forms based on the medication used: Kashaya Vasthi and Anuvasana Vasthi.
  • Kashaya Vasthi
    • Performed on an empty stomach, this procedure uses a specially prepared medicated decoction as the enema agent. After the treatment, the patient is advised to consume well-cooked rice.
  • Anuvasana Vasthi
    • This treatment is administered after food intake, using medicated oil or ghee as the enema agent.
  • Both forms of Vasthi are essential components of Ayurvedic therapy, promoting detoxification and overall wellness.

Nasyam is administered to a patient on an empty stomach. The patient is sedated and made to lie down comfortably. A prescribed dose of medication (either Taila or Swarasa) is then instilled through each nostril. The medication travels to the mouth, where it is expelled along with sputum. A 15-minute rest period is recommended following the treatment.

  • Virechanam, or purgation therapy, is designed to eliminate accumulated toxins from the alimentary canal, particularly the small intestine. This procedure is effective in removing excess Pitta and Kapha doshas.
  • Procedure:
    • Preparation:
      • The day before Virechanam, special food is given to increase acid secretion in the gut.
    • On the Day of Virechanam:
      • External treatments such as an oil massage and steam are administered.
      • The Virechanam medicine, to be taken orally, will be provided by your therapist or doctor immediately after these treatments.
      • No other medicine or breakfast is given on the day of Virechanam.
    • Post-Treatment:
      • Be prepared to evacuate your bowels every 15 minutes, although for some, it may be every 45-60 minutes.
      • If the Virechanam is unsatisfactory, a therapeutic enema may be given in the afternoon to initiate elimination, or the procedure may be repeated the following day.

  • Vamanam, or emesis therapy, is an intense Panchakarma procedure designed to induce vomiting and eliminate toxins from the upper part of the body, particularly to regulate the Kapha dosha.
  • Benefits
    • Balances Kapha Dosha: Helps cure and prevent excessive Kapha-related disorders and regulates the water element in the upper body.
    • Emotional Release: Aids in releasing toxins produced by suppressed emotions in the chest, throat, and head regions.
    • Overall Well-being: Provides a feeling of lightness and peace of mind after treatment.
  • Procedure
    • Preparation Day:
      • Special meals with desserts are served the day before Vamanam.
    • Treatment Day:
      • Early Start: Rise early as the treatment begins at 6:00 am.
      • Initial Steps: A mild massage and steam therapy are given.
      • Entering Treatment Room: Enter with a calm mind and sit comfortably on the provided chair.
      • First Round of Medicine: After a prayer, drink milk until you feel full, along with a special herbal liquid to induce vomiting.
      • Inducing Vomiting: If vomiting does not occur naturally, induce it by placing fingers in your throat. Bend forward and expel the vomitus into a bucket, assisted by therapists.
      • Subsequent Rounds: Drink mild herbal liquid and repeat vomiting. This process is followed by drinking saltwater and normal water in later rounds.
      • Guidance: The doctor will guide and monitor the process, determining when to stop based on your condition and the contents of the expelled vomitus. Typically, 3 to 7 rounds are performed.
      • Post-Vomiting Steps: Inhale medicated smoke (dhoopam) through the nose and exhale through the mouth with eyes closed to clear remaining Kapha.
      • Nasyam: Nasal cleaning with herbal juice may be advised in the afternoon.
      • Post-Treatment Nutrition: A special drink is provided around 9 am if needed. Rice gruel or porridge is served when hunger returns.
      • Normal Reactions: Loose stools, diarrhea, or additional vomiting may occur afterward, which is normal.
  • If vomiting does not occur during the procedure, alternative cleansing methods may be used as directed by the doctor.

Agni Karma, also known as thermal cauterization, is a distinctive therapeutic procedure that harnesses the healing properties of heat. Derived from the Sanskrit words 'agni' (fire) and 'karma' (action), this therapy involves the precise application of heat to specific points on the body to alleviate various ailments.
